Design Dome: Kazakhstan's Silk Road Heritage in Dubai

A Bridge Between Worlds: Design Dome’s Vision

Design Dome is a concept store and cultural space in Dubai that translates Kazakhstan’s rich heritage into contemporary design experiences. Inspired by the Silk Road, the project frames traditional motifs, stories and hospitality as living design elements, inviting visitors to engage with a lesser-seen corner of Central Asian culture.

The Family Behind the Vision

The project is driven by the Tilani family: Lalit, Diviya, Ravi and Raushan. Their personal ties to Kazakhstan inform every curatorial choice, from product selection to the mood of the space. This is family-led cultural entrepreneurship that pairs lived memory with creative practice, giving the concept an intimate and authentic voice.

Curated Cultural Experiences

Fashion & Craft

Design Dome showcases contemporary garments and artisan-made goods that reference Kazakh patterns, textiles and construction methods. Pieces sit at the intersection of heritage and modernity, appealing to design-conscious shoppers seeking story-driven objects.

Tea & Hospitality

Tea service at the space recreates regional rituals, accompanied by traditional treats and warm hospitality. The presentation is designed to slow the visit, turning a product encounter into a social and sensory exchange.

Art & Bespoke Design

Rotating artworks and bespoke collaborations form the Dome’s creative backbone. Notable examples include hand-painted sneakers by Diviya Tilani and Silk Road-inspired installations that frame craft as contemporary art. The programme gives emerging makers a platform within Dubai’s vibrant design scene.
