Catalysing AI Adoption in Culture
Saudi Arabia has unveiled an “AI Incentives for Cultural Projects” program offering up to SAR 500,000 in support for cultural businesses. Backed by the Ministry of Culture and the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) and delivered through the Cultural Development Fund (CDF), the scheme aims to seed AI-driven creative projects across the Kingdom.
Supporting Creative MSMEs Across the Cultural Value Chain
The program targets micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) working across creativity, heritage, content and live or digital experiences. Eligible projects include AI-assisted storytelling, heritage digitisation, immersive visitor experiences, generative design for cultural content and tools that broaden access to artistic practice and audiences.
Driving Vision 2030’s Economic and Cultural Ambitions
This incentive aligns with Vision 2030 priorities to diversify the economy and grow the creative economy. Public funding for creative AI is designed to accelerate technology adoption, develop local skills, and attract regional and international partnerships. The program also signals a push to preserve cultural heritage with modern tools and to create new exportable cultural products and services.
What Impact to Expect
Short term outcomes include faster prototyping, new revenue models for cultural producers and wider public access to heritage through AI-powered experiences. Over time, the initiative could position Saudi cultural MSMEs as collaborators in cross-border creative projects and draw private investment into the cultural tech sector.
How to Engage with the Program
Applications are open to eligible MSMEs via the Cultural Development Fund application portal. The deadline for submissions is September 29, 2026. Interested teams should prepare a concise project plan, budget and explanation of the AI use case. For support, contact details are available on the CDF website and through Ministry of Culture channels.
For creative professionals and tech founders, this fund is a notable invitation to test ambitious AI concepts within culture and heritage, and to help shape a new chapter of Saudi creative economy under Vision 2030.
