Camper Charts a New Creative Course with Abraham Ortuño

A Fresh Vision for Spanish Footwear

Introducing the new creative director

Camper has appointed Abraham Ortuño as its new creative director, succeeding Achilles Ion Gabriel. Ortuño, founder of the experimental label Abra, brings a background in avant-garde footwear and a track record of collaborations with names such as Givenchy, Jacquemus and Loewe.

Camper CEO Miguel Fluxà welcomed the choice, saying Ortuño’s Mediterranean sensibility and contemporary outlook make him a strong match for the brand as it plots its next phase. Ortuño will oversee both Camper’s main lines and the Camperlab experimental arm.

Ortuño’s creative direction

Ortuño describes his brief as adding “a new subversive energy” to Camper while keeping the brand’s practical DNA. He plans to fuse irony, craftsmanship and contemporary culture to produce footwear that reads as design-led yet wearable. His approach positions Camper to speak to design-minded consumers who value concept as much as comfort.

The designer’s first collection for Camper is scheduled for Autumn-Winter 2027, giving him time to shape a cohesive programme across core lines and Camperlab projects.

What this means for Camper

Founded in Mallorca and widely recognised for its blend of comfort and character, Camper has used Camperlab to test experimental forms and collaborations that lift the brand’s cultural profile. Appointing Ortuño signals a continued commitment to inventive footwear while reaffirming Camper’s Mediterranean roots.

For design professionals and fans of contemporary Spanish creativity, this is a move that underlines Camper’s intent to remain relevant in both global fashion circles and everyday wardrobes. Ortuño’s arrival promises a conversation between the brand’s legacy and a distinctly modern, playful design language.
