Newport Food Festival: A Feast of Food, Music & Community This Autumn

Each autumn Newport city centre fills with flavour, colour and community spirit for the Newport Food Festival. Held in early October (around October 3rd), the event brings together 85+ stalls, street food, live music and hands-on activities across Newport Market, John Frost Square, the Riverfront and nearby venues.

A Taste of Wales and Beyond

Expect a wide array of food and drink from independent producers and street-food vendors offering everything from Welsh cheesemakers and coastal seafood to international small plates and craft drinks. John Frost Square becomes a relaxed street-food and music hub, perfect for sampling plates while enjoying live performances.

Star Chefs & Culinary Inspiration

The festival kitchen hosts chef demonstrations and kitchen stages with notable names such as Clodagh McKenna and Carl Cleghorn alongside a MasterChef semi-finalist and top local cooks. Watch live demos, pick up kitchen tips, and cheer on the Teenchef final as young chefs showcase their talent. Newport Market plays a central role, buzzing with expert demos and foodie meet-ups.

More Than Just Food: Music, Family & Community

Beyond tasting, the festival is a full city celebration. Live music and performances run across sites, while family-friendly craft sessions, food workshops and talks take place at the Riverfront and market. The Age Friendly Community Zone and the Newport Food Partnership host workshops on healthy cooking and community food projects, highlighting local initiatives that support a fairer, healthier food scene.
