Ukraine’s “Tyshchovesna” Initiative: A Major Boost for Creative Industries
The Tyshchovesna programme has announced final selections for its first round, allocating up to UAH 4 billion to support 546 cultural projects. Launched by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the initiative aims to produce high-quality cultural content across multiple disciplines while sustaining the creative sector in challenging times.
Funding Diverse Creative Fields
Selected projects span a broad cross-section of the creative economy, including:
- Contemporary music commissions and concerts
- Performing arts and theatre productions
- Feature film development and production
- Visual arts exhibitions and public projects
- Non-fiction films and documentaries
- Animation and short-form projects
Recipients include established creators and emerging talent, reflecting a deliberate balance between experienced teams and new voices across Ukraine’s regions.
Cultivating Resilience and Global Cultural Influence
Beyond direct financing, Tyshchovesna is designed to strengthen cultural infrastructure, support jobs in creative supply chains, and amplify Ukraine’s story on world stages. The programme signals that culture is a strategic sector for national recovery and international outreach, providing both economic return and soft power impact.
The selection process combined an open call with expert panels and independent reviewers, prioritising artistic merit, feasibility, and potential audience reach. Ministry of Culture officials have indicated plans to expand the programme to additional areas, including video games and books, in future waves.
For creative professionals, Tyshchovesna represents a substantial opportunity to scale projects, collaborate across disciplines, and position Ukrainian culture more prominently on the global map. The distribution of funds and the initiative’s scope make it a notable model in state support for the arts.
